My Prayer For You...June 29, 2014

My prayer for you and me this week...

Lord, we acknowledge Your Sovereignty.  We acknowledge Your Kingship and Your supreme right to rule over Your creation.  We acknowledge You are the one true God and rightful judge.
We acknowledge You are good and true; You are justice and freedom.  You are not a man; You do not lie.  We acknowledge You are faithful and trustworthy; You are the same yesterday, today and forever more!
Lord, we acknowledge You are the author and perfecter of our faith; You are our Great High Priest, and we bow...knees to the ground...in full submission to Your authority over our lives!
We thank You, Sovereign God, for Your grace and mercy, love and patience, and we acknowledge You are worthy of all praise...amen and amen!

I Timothy 6:13 & 15, John 17:1-3, Deuteronomy 10:17-18, Leviticus 26:13, Romans 8:21, Numbers 23:19, Deuteronomy 32:4, Hebrews 13:8, Hebrews 12:2, Hebrews 5:10, Revelation 4:9-11

When I'm ready to move you...

"When I'm ready to move you, I'll have someone call you."

That's the response I heard from my Heavenly Father.
I was ready to go!
I felt a move was coming my way.
But when and where?
Should I help the process?

"Be still...wait on Me!"

That's the response I heard from my Heavenly Father.
Oh yes, Father, the best place for me, always, is right by Your side.
Teach me to bloom where I'm planted!

And by His grace, I did...
And then...without any effort on my part...
He was true to His word.
My phone rang with the offer to move.

I didn't have to wonder if it was right.
My Heavenly Father was true to His word.
When He was ready to move me, He had someone call me.

My Prayer For You...June 22, 2014

My prayer for you and me this week...
Lord, Jesus, reveal to us the depth of this truth; repentance is the gift of God.
(Acts 5:31, 11:18; Romans 2:4 and 2 Peter 3:9)

God, out of Your desire to be in relationship with us, Your creation, You gave Yourself in the person of Your dear Son, Jesus Christ to be our mediator - the reconciler between God and man!  And God, You gave to us the presence of the Holy Spirit to bring conviction, through which we recognize our need to turn from our selfish desires and submit ourselves under Your Sovereign authority!

This opportunity to repent - to turn around - to make an about face - is truly a gift.  It is a gift of hope, since without repentance, we would stumble in the dark without peace.  It is through the gift of repentance, we choose to walk in truth and light and gain hope to mature in faith and grow more intimate with our Creator, our Sovereign Father, the King Who graciously chose to adopt us and make us His own!

Lord, Jesus, teach us (me), this very day, how to walk in this truth; repentance is the gift of God.  Make repentance useful and productive in our lives as Your Holy Spirit puts a spotlight on our (my) sin.  Hear us Lord, as we confess our sin, calling it by name, and gratefully, we make the choice to turn away from the dark of the flesh, and toward You, our Light and Life!

Thank You for making this possible...thank You for Your gift; the gift of repentance.  We exalt Your name, Holy God, Worthy of all Praise...Worthy of all Praise!

My Prayer for You...June 15, 2014

My prayer for you and me this Father's Day...

regardless of your reaction to the word "father"
or the emotion this word provokes...

whether wonderful or mournful...
delight in this current truth...

God, your Father, is good...
(Luke 11:13, Genesis 1:26, and Genesis 2)
who designed you on purpose for a purpose...
(Psalm 139:13-16, Romans 15:5-6 and Jeremiah 29:11-12)
who lavishes you with love and...
(I John 3:1)

disciplines you because of His great love for you...
(Hebrews 12:5-11)
who will never leave you, will never abandon you...
(Hebrews 13:5, Deuteronomy 31:6)
and will delight Himself in giving you good gifts as you seek to be in His presence!  (Matthew 7:7-11, Psalm 37:4)

We give thanks to You, Father, God, for You are good and Your love endures forever!  (Psalm 107:1)
We give thanks to You for the men You have given to us to be good Fathers in Your example.

And Father, we ask for Your mercy and grace to extend forgiveness when fathers have fallen short of Your example; we have all fallen short of Your example.  May we be faithful to build Your Kingdom, bend our knee to Your authority and glorify Your Great Name as Sovereign King and Lord of all!

Happy Father's Day, Lord God, for Your Glory and delight...from Your kids...Amen!!

This Week's Lightbulb Moment

Perseverance is...

...my willingness to try just ONE MORE TIME!

My husband's favorite birthday dessert is strawberry pie!  I learned this before we were married, and so I asked my future mother in law for the recipe.  She kindly wrote it out for me.

With great excitement, I bought the ingredients and set out to make a wonderful surprise strawberry pie. The end result - strawberry soup in a crust.  "Well," I thought to myself, "I must have missed a step."  So, I began again only to reach the same result....strawberry soup in a crust!

Greatly disappointed with my perceived inability to follow a recipe, I went back to the grocery, and bought all new ingredients.  I started over determined to present a beautiful strawberry pie to my fiance for his birthday!  It was his gift after all!!

I diligently read and re-read and measured and re-measured every step of the recipe to the very end.  The result....strawberry soup in a crust!
I failed!!
3 failures in the trash...and many tears later I explained my attempt to create a beautiful strawberry pie.

My Mom's Recipe
My fiance was impressed with my perseverance, touched by my hard work and long suffering desire to surprise him with his favorite birthday dessert.  And then a sheepish grin crept along the corners of his mouth as he said, "You know, maybe my mom left out the secret ingredient."

Could it be?  Yes, indeed, my dear Mom B had left out the one ingredient which determines whether the end result is a strawberry soup or pie!  We'll never know why, and it doesn't matter really because it makes for a really fun story of perseverance.

I've tried again and again over our 26 years of marriage, and finally just days ago, using my mom's recipe and her encouragement to try ONE MORE TIME, the end result was a surprise strawberry pie for my husband's birthday!

This is just pie; however, this same persevering spirit has been put to the test and found useful in every significant aspect of my life.  Particularly there came a time in our marriage when I had to make a decision to try ONE MORE TIME.  God blessed the willing heart, the act of obedience and the perseverance to try again, and He receives all the credit and glory for healing our marriage relationship.

Does persevering through pie making have anything to do with persevering in life?  Perhaps more than meets the eye.
What I know is this; to be prepared for the trial when it comes, I must have practiced and practiced in advance to know exactly what to do in the moment of crisis!

James 1:2-4,The Message, teaches it this way, "Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides.  You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors.  So don't try to get out of anything prematurely.  Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way."

Blessings of GREAT JOY as you persevere on your journey with JESUS!

My Prayer for You...June 1-8, 2014

My prayer for you...and me too...this week of Pentecost

Creator, God, our Father, the One Who knows each one of Your creation through and through, infuse Your people with the boldness of Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, to do what You have asked of us in faith and to speak the truth boldly in the public square.

Jesus, You told the disciples they would follow Your example and do even greater things once You returned to the Father in heaven. (John 14:12)

Oh God, even though Peter faced ridicule, slander and persecution, even unto imprisonment and physical harm, he did not back down or run away and hide from Your calling on his life once the Holy Spirit came upon him with power on the day of Pentecost.  I too want to live all the days of my life, however many are left for me, fulfilling Your calling on my life in the power of the Holy Spirit filled up and overflowing in my life.

After Peter and John had been seized and put in jail for proclaiming the truth of Jesus' resurrection, they were brought out and questioned by rulers, elders, teachers of the law and the high priest's family.  Peter and John were asked, "By what power or what name did you do this?"

Then Peter filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: "Rulers and elders of the people!  If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a cripple and are asked how he was healed, then know this, you and all the people of Israel:  It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed...Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."  Acts 4:1-12

Here am I Lord; send me! (Isaiah 6:8)  I receive into every fiber of my life and breath the dynamite power of Your Holy Spirit dwelling in me.  I believe You will do the greater things through Your Holy Spirit in me and Your Great Name, Jehovah, will be exalted!  Let me not be seen, but only Jesus be seen in me!  For Your Glory and Your Renown, I place my life in Your Hands, purified and redeemed by the blood of the Lamb...send me!  Amen.  (Isaiah 26:8)
